There’s something different to see at each mill – between them they cover the history of cloth weaving from medieval times up to the mid-19th century.

During the spring and summer, you can visit Dunkirk Mill Museum and the Gigg Mill Weaving Shed on the same day.

At Dunkirk you can experience the huge waterwheel turning and driving textile machinery; at Gigg you can see historic looms (hand-looms of various sizes and a 1950s Dobcross power-loom) and try weaving a few inches of cloth yourself.
